Year 9 and 10 geography excursion

alt text

The Yr 9/10 Geography class is currently on excursion. They are visiting the Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability where they have been looking at environmental change and management in partnership with both the Boorowa Community Landcare and North Sydney Bushcare Groups.

The Coal Loader was decommissioned in the 1990s and transformed into an environmental sustainability centre. Students have been studying the history of the Coal Loader and its changing scopes and functions.

Students also participated in a bush walk in the pouring rain, ably lead by Tristan Thomas who explained both the indigenous history and culture of Balls Head.

After a walk across the Sydney Harbour Bridge, a tour of the Rocks and Circular Quay they caught the ferry back to Cremorne Point so they could all join in making solar buddies (lights) for people in Papua New Guinea.

The students and staff of Boorowa Central School would like to extend their thanks to Cathy McGuirk, Linda Cavanagh, Hill Tops Council and North Sydney Bushcare for their generous support towards making this excursion possible. A very informative, interesting and enjoyable time was had by all.
